This seemed like a superficial laceration to the fetlock until we probed it. As you can see the wound is very deep and amazingly didn't damage the tendon sheath.
It's always a good idea to get your vet to check out wounds to make sure they don't enter a joint. Wounds that involve joints need immediate veterinary attention!
